vivo will launch the T5 5G in India on September 2, 2026, and the phone's selling point is a 7,050mAh battery inside a body under 8mm thick. Digit reports the event starts at noon. The phone has not launched yet, so the useful thing to know is which specifications vivo has actually confirmed and which are still guesses.
The T5 is a midrange Android phone sold in India through Flipkart. 91mobiles reports the launch date comes from vivo's own Flipkart microsite, which also names the price bracket.
What vivo has confirmed
Three details are on the record from vivo's teasers and its Flipkart page, and 91mobiles and NokiaMob agree on all of them.
The chip is a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo. The screen is a 6.83-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED running at 144Hz, and NokiaMob adds a 2,000-nit peak brightness figure. The battery is 7,050mAh. On thickness the two reports differ slightly: 91mobiles says 7.99mm, NokiaMob says 7.9mm, so read it as just under 8mm either way.
The colors are Royal Bronze and Silver Green. NokiaMob reports the software is OriginOS 6, built on Android 16, and describes the design language as "Skyline" with a dual-camera module.
What is not confirmed, and where reports disagree
This is where a pre-launch story earns its keep. Digit publishes a full specification list but labels it expected, and states plainly that "official price and specs still remain under wraps."
That expected list contradicts the confirmed one in ways that matter.

Both cannot be right. The confirmed column comes from vivo's own material, so treat the other column as speculation that has not caught up. RAM, storage, charging speed, weight and the full camera list are all still unannounced.
Price is unsettled too. 91mobiles and Digit both cite a Rs 34,999 to Rs 49,999 bracket taken from the Flipkart microsite. NokiaMob expects Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000. A bracket that wide is a placeholder, not a price.
NokiaMob also raises the possibility that the T5 is a rebadged iQOO Z11. That is the writer's inference rather than a vivo statement, so it is worth watching at launch rather than repeating as fact.
The number developers should notice
One figure in NokiaMob's report is more interesting than the battery. It says the T5 runs on-device AI at 10 tokens per second using a 3-billion-parameter model.
A token is roughly a word fragment, so 10 tokens per second is slower than a person reads. A 3-billion-parameter model is small by current standards. Neither figure is impressive next to a datacenter. What matters is where it is happening: on a midrange phone, with no network call.
This claim appears in only one of the three reports, so treat the exact number as unverified until vivo publishes it.
What this means for developers
If you ship an Android app in India, the interesting part of this launch is the floor moving, not the phone. On-device inference is turning up in the midrange, which is where volume lives in that market. A feature you currently gate behind a server call may soon run locally on hardware your users already own.
Do the arithmetic before you design around it. At 10 tokens per second, a 200-token reply takes about 20 seconds. That rules out anything conversational and rules in background work: summarizing a document the user already saved, classifying photos overnight, drafting a reply the user opens later. Design for latency you can hide.
Two practical checks are worth running when review units appear. First, measure sustained throughput rather than a burst, because a 7,050mAh battery in a sub-8mm body raises real questions about heat. Second, confirm what the NPU is actually exposed to third-party apps through, since a vendor demo and a public API are not the same thing.
On the display side, a 144Hz panel means your animation budget is about 7 milliseconds per frame, not 16. If you have been testing on 60Hz hardware, profile again before assuming your UI is smooth.
Finally, wait for September 2 before promising anything to a client. The chip, the screen technology and the battery capacity are all still contested between reports, and every one of those changes what your app can do.
