POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra go global on September 1 with 185Hz screens

POCO launches the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra globally on September 1, 2026, in an online event that Xiaomi's own page times at 20:00 GMT+8. Both phones run Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which puts flagship silicon in a line that usually undercuts flagship prices.

POCO is Xiaomi's value-focused brand. GSMArena reports the two phones are rebranded versions of the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, which is how POCO has long built its range.

What POCO has actually confirmed

Xiaomi's launch page is the first-party source, and it is deliberately thin.

Confirmed there: the September 1 date and 20:00 GMT+8 start, the two-model line-up, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in both, and the official colors. The Ultra is "Deep Cherry" and the Pro is "Aurora Green".

For the Ultra, Xiaomi also lists a 185Hz ultra-bright AMOLED display, an 8,050mAh battery, and 100W wired plus 50W wireless HyperCharge. The page claims 185 frames per second in gaming. Detailed specifications for the Pro are not fully listed.

Notebookcheck, writing back on July 27, adds configuration detail from certification filings. Both models support 100W wired charging, and only the Ultra adds 50W wireless. The Ultra comes in three memory and storage builds, listed as 12GB with 256GB, 12GB with 512GB, and 16GB with 512GB. The Pro comes in two.

What is still a leak

Prices are not official. GSMArena reports leaked figures of 799 euros for the F9 Pro and 999 euros for the F9 Ultra, and marks them as leaks. The same report lists a leaked 6,330mAh battery for the Pro against the Ultra's confirmed 8,050mAh.

One detail is worth flagging because it runs against the usual pattern. GSMArena notes the F9 Ultra has a smaller battery than the Redmi model it is based on. Rebadged phones normally match their originals, so that is a change someone made on purpose.

What this means for developers

The 185Hz display is the part that lands on your code. At 185Hz you have about 5.4 milliseconds to produce a frame, against 16.7 milliseconds at 60Hz. Any work you do on the main thread that felt acceptable before now has roughly a third of the budget.

That is worth testing rather than assuming. Set your animations to use the display's actual refresh rate instead of a hard-coded 60. Check that scroll handlers are not doing layout work. Then profile on a high-refresh device before you claim smoothness. Games have a second consideration: sustaining 185 frames per second drains an 8,050mAh battery quickly, so give players a frame-rate cap.

The battery capacities themselves change a testing assumption. Phones in the 6,000 to 8,000mAh range are becoming normal in this segment, and users on them will run your app far longer between charges. Background work you sized for a 4,000mAh phone gets a longer runway, which is an opportunity and also a way to waste someone's power budget.

Do not build a launch plan around the leaked prices. Two of the most consequential numbers here, the Pro's battery and both price tags, are still unconfirmed. The event is today, so the wait is short.
