RedMagic launched the RedMagic 12 Pro+ gaming phone in China on October 15, 2026, starting at 6,999 yuan. It pairs a liquid cooling system and a built-in fan with RGB lighting on the back, and its screen refreshes up to 185 times a second. That starting price is 1,300 yuan more than the RedMagic 11 Pro+, which began at 5,699 yuan, Gizchina reports.
RedMagic is a gaming phone brand from ZTE's nubia. Gaming phones trade a slim design for features that keep a fast chip running at full speed for long sessions.
How the cooling works
A phone's processor slows itself down when it gets too hot, which shows up in games as falling frame rates. The 12 Pro+ fights that with two systems working together.
- Liquid cooling. Gizchina says the ICE 12 system uses a tiny pump to move liquid that carries heat away from the chip.
- A vapor chamber. My Mobile India lists a 13,116 square millimeter vapor chamber, a flat plate that spreads heat across the phone.
- An active fan. A real fan spins at up to 25,500 RPM and blows hot air out of the body.
RedMagic has now put colored lighting on that fan module. The fan unit is rated IPX8 for water, while the phone itself is rated IP68 and IP69, according to Gizchina.

Price and availability
| Memory and storage | China price |
|---|---|
| 12GB + 256GB | 6,999 yuan |
| 16GB + 512GB | 7,999 yuan |

The phone comes in three see-through finishes: Dark Night, Silver Wing and Ice Blue. RedMagic also teased a Golden Saga limited edition with 24GB of RAM, with no price yet.
The dollar figures in the coverage are conversions, not official prices, and they disagree. Gizchina puts the base model at about $980, while Nokiamob says about $1,050. Global pricing and availability have not been confirmed, and Nokiamob says the phone is currently exclusive to China.
What this means for developers
For mobile game developers, phones like this raise the ceiling you can design for. A 185Hz screen only helps if a game can render that many frames, so test whether your frame pacing holds up above 120 frames per second.
For buyers, the useful number is sustained speed, not peak speed. A phone that throttles after ten minutes loses its benchmark lead fast. Wait for independent tests of long gaming sessions before paying a premium for the fan.
The 12 Pro+ also continues a trend of very large batteries in China. OnePlus launched the OnePlus 16 there on October 12 with a 9,000mAh battery and a screen that also reaches 185Hz in games. If you build for Android, expect more phones that can sustain high frame rates for longer, and set your quality options to match.
