Google stopped selling new Gemini Code Assist Standard and Enterprise subscriptions on October 9, 2026. Teams already paying can keep using the coding assistant until their contracts end. Google is moving AI coding help to Antigravity, which comes inside its Gemini Enterprise plans, so every team on Code Assist now has a deadline to plan around.

Gemini Code Assist is Google's AI coding assistant, which works inside code editors through extensions. Antigravity is the newer Google product that takes over its agentic coding features, meaning tools that can carry out multi-step coding tasks.

The key dates

Google's end-of-sale page sets out the timeline. Existing subscriptions "remain supported until the end of your contractual agreement," it says. There is no single shutdown date.

The Gemini Code Assist release notes announced it in one line: "Sale of Gemini Code Assist subscriptions is ending." HighCircl and BlackTree, two independent sites that published guides for buyers, give the same three dates.

Where Antigravity fits

Google says agentic coding help will come through Antigravity, which is "included in Gemini Enterprise editions." Its release note adds that Antigravity is also available through Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Google tells customers to plan their move to Gemini Enterprise before their final renewal or contract end.

HighCircl's guide lists which plans qualify, citing Google's overview. They are paid or trial Gemini Enterprise Standard or Plus, a Standard Emerging Market edition for eligible customers, and a pay-as-you-go edition. HighCircl also notes that Google's overview says Antigravity in Gemini Enterprise lacks several compliance certifications, including SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

Those are audited security standards that many large buyers require. BlackTree adds a caution: Google's notice does not show that the replacement is an equal service, so teams should test it.

Gemini CLI, Google's command-line coding agent, also has a successor. Google's documentation links a migration guide to Antigravity CLI.

A wind-down that started in June

The end of sales follows earlier cuts, listed in Google's release notes.

  • June 18, 2026: Gemini Code Assist's editor extensions and Gemini CLI stopped serving individuals and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
  • August 20, 2026: Google ended first-month credits for Gemini Code Assist usage.
  • September 4, 2026: New subscriptions could no longer be bought in the Google Cloud console by billing accounts without an active subscription.
  • October 9, 2026: All new Standard and Enterprise sales ended.

What this means for developers

  • Find your renewal type now. Annual plans lose auto-renewal after January 31, 2027, and monthly plans after December 31, 2027. Your contract end date is your real deadline.
  • Add seats before January 31. No new licenses can be added after that date. Teams that expect to grow should buy the seats they need before then.
  • Check compliance before you switch. If your company requires SOC 2 or ISO 27001, confirm Antigravity's status for your plan first. HighCircl reports it lacks both today.
  • Run a side-by-side test. Put a small team on Antigravity while Code Assist still works. Compare suggestions, editor support and admin controls before the final renewal.
  • Move scripts off Gemini CLI. If your automation calls Gemini CLI, follow Google's migration guide to Antigravity CLI and test it in your build.
  • Price the bundle, not the tool. Antigravity comes inside Gemini Enterprise, so the cost question becomes the whole plan. No source gives Antigravity's price on its own.
